How to use it

Three habits that make it worth filling out.

  1. Step 1

    Check as a guest would

Start at the door and move through the room the way a guest does. Open the closet, lift the bed skirt and run the water.

  2. Step 2

Flag repairs when you see them

A broken latch or a leak goes to maintenance the same day. Write the room number and what is wrong.

  3. Step 3

Keep the room out of service when it matters

A room with a safety defect, such as a smoke alarm that won't test or a lock that fails, does not go back on sale until it is fixed.

Do this on a phone instead of paper.

Run this check on a phone, with a photo on any failed step, no signal needed. A failed step opens a repair and the record is kept for you.

Common questions

What is on a hotel room inspection checklist?
The entry and living area, the bed and furniture, the bathroom, and a safety and maintenance check. The aim is a clean, working, safe room that matches the brand standard.
Who should inspect the room?
A supervisor or inspector who did not clean it, for a sample of rooms each day. A second pair of eyes finds what the person who cleaned the room stopped seeing.
Can I add my own brand standard?
Yes. This is a starting point. Add the lines your brand or your owner asks for. Edit it in the checklist builder.
