Energy
Twelve hours out on the pad. The handover still has to say what the last crew found.
PortalBase gives rigs, plants and field crews one running log per site, a handover that signs on the phone and checks that run with no signal. Satellite only or nothing at all, the work still gets recorded.
In the app
What a energy crew opens first.
Today’s tasks, the training that’s due, the checks and the forms. The tiles and the work are set up for Sablecreek Field Services, a made-up company. Yours would be set up for your crews.

Shift change
What the last tour left, and what you're leaving
The old way
A whiteboard, a notebook, a verbal handoff over coffee. Something gets left out and the next crew finds it the hard way.
The Shift tile
Pick the rig or scan the sign. One screen shows the open items from the last tour, who found them and a photo. Walk the area, add what you find, tap Sign. The incoming person taps Acknowledge. Open items roll forward and any one becomes a task in one tap.
What gets checked
Checks worth a photo
Pre-job brief and tailgate. Fill it out on the pad before the work starts. Hazards, controls, who's on the crew, who signed.
Read more →Walkdowns. Scan the tag on the unit and the template for that asset type opens. Each step takes a photo or a reading.
Read more →Lockout/tagout. Training with a skill check at the end. Someone watches the worker go through the steps on video and both sign.
Read more →Vehicle and trailer checks. Meter readings go on the asset. A failed critical step can put the truck out of service until the repair is signed off.
Read more →No signal
Remote means remote
01
Ahead of time. Courses, procedures, SDSs and the rig's checklists download before the crew drives out. Admins mark what's required offline.
02
On location. Everything gets saved the moment it's done. It survives the app closing and the phone restarting.
03
Heading back. Video uploads in the background when signal returns. Set it to Wi-Fi only if the satellite link is metered. The worker can always see what's still waiting.
Who's on the crew
Employees, contractors and rotating hands
- Company SSO. Anyone in your directory signs in once. People are added and removed automatically.
- Contract hands. Wireline, welders, vac truck drivers, a service company's crew. Text code, employee ID and PIN, or QR badge on the shared tablet.
- Qualifications. A supervisor sees who isn't current on a certification before assigning the job. Workers show their own certificates on the phone at the gate, offline.
Records, not promises.
PortalBase records who did what, where and when. It doesn't decide whether a site is compliant, and it doesn't replace the training you give in person.
