How to use it

Three habits that make it worth filling out.

  1. Step 1

Walk it the same way each time

Use the same route so the same corners get looked at. Look high and low, not just at eye level.

  2. Step 2

    Fix what's fast

Pick up the cord, wipe the spill, move the pallet. Write down the rest with a name and a date.

  3. Step 3

    Check last week's list first

If the same item shows up twice, ask why. It's usually a storage or a staffing problem, not a one-off.

Do this on a phone instead of paper.

Run this check on a phone, with a photo on any failed step, no signal needed. A failed step opens a repair and the record is kept for you.

Common questions

Why does housekeeping matter for safety?
Many slips, trips and falls start with something on the floor. Clutter can also block exits, hide hazards and feed a fire. A clean area is easier to see problems in.
How often should housekeeping be inspected?
Your company decides. Many sites walk each area at least weekly and ask crews to clean up at the end of each shift. Heavy work areas may need more.
Who is responsible for housekeeping?
Everyone on the crew cleans up after their own work. A supervisor or safety lead walks the area and holds the list of follow-ups.
