How to use it

Three habits that make it worth filling out.

  1. Step 1

    Walk it every time

Do the walk when you arrive, not from the truck. Things change between visits.

  2. Step 2

    Report what you can't fix

A leak or a missing sign goes to the person who owns the site, with a photo. Write down who you told.

  3. Step 3

Stop work for a gas alarm or a leak

Follow the site's procedure and go to the muster point. Don't go back in to finish a task.

Do this on a phone instead of paper.

Run this check on a phone, with a photo on any failed step, no signal needed. A failed step opens a repair and the record is kept for you.

Common questions

Is this a well inspection?
No. It's a general walkaround of the pad, the road and the site conditions. It doesn't cover well equipment or well control. Those follow the operator's procedures and the people trained for them.
Who does the walkaround?
Whoever arrives to work on the location, and the site's own lead on their rounds. Your company and the operator decide who is required to walk it and how often.
What if the gas detector doesn't work?
Don't start the work. Tell the site lead and swap or fix the detector, per the site's procedure. Having a detector on the pad is not the same as having one that works.
