How to use it

Three habits that make it worth filling out.

  1. Step 1

Write the course by its real name

Use the name on the card or certificate, like 'forklift operator' or 'first aid and CPR'. Then it matches what an auditor sees.

  2. Step 2

    Fill in the expiry

Take the date from the card, the maker or your procedure. Don't guess it.

  3. Step 3

    Check it every month

Scan the Expires column. Book the class before the card runs out, not after.

Do this on a phone instead of paper.

Keep every worker's courses, dates and expiry on one record, with certificates attached. Training works on a phone with no signal, and expiring cards get flagged for you.

Common questions

Why keep a training record?
It shows who was trained on what and when. When a card expires or a new job comes up, the record tells you who is ready and who isn't.
What should go on the record?
The course name, the date, the trainer, the expiry if there is one and a sign-off. Add card or certificate numbers where your procedure asks for them.
Does this prove someone is qualified?
No. It records that training happened. Whether a person is competent on the task is decided by your procedure, often with a hands-on check by a qualified person.
