How to use it

Three habits that make it worth filling out.

  1. Step 1

Check before it goes near an aircraft

Do it at the start of the shift, and again when a different operator takes the unit.

  2. Step 2

    Report a defect right away

Write down what failed and tell the lead before the unit is used again.

  3. Step 3

Keep out-of-service units out of the line

Tag a failed unit and park it away from the working equipment so it isn't picked up by mistake.

Do this on a phone instead of paper.

Run this check on a phone, with a photo on any failed step, no signal needed. A failed step opens a repair and the record is kept for you.

Common questions

What is a GSE inspection?
It's a check of ground support equipment, like tugs, belt loaders, power units and stairs, before use. It looks for damage, leaks and anything that stops the equipment from operating safely around aircraft and people.
How often should GSE be inspected?
Before use, at the start of each shift or when the operator changes. Your airline, ground handler and the equipment maker set the full schedule, so follow those. This sheet covers the operator's daily check.
Can this work for different equipment types?
Yes, as a base. Add lines for the specific unit, like the conveyor on a belt loader or the platform on stairs, and drop lines that don't apply.
